Great Basin Resources, Inc., was founded in Reno, Nevada, 2017, as a privately held exploration and resource holding company. The company focuses on the acquisition, exploration, and optioning or leasing of mineral exploration properties.
Richard R. Kern B.Sc., M.Sc., P.Geo; President
Prior to forming Great Basin Resources Inc. Richard co-founded MinQuest Inc. in 1998 and managed significant gold discoveries at Fire Creek and Longstreet, Nevada and at Moss, Arizona. Richard held positions with several major mining companies before starting his own company. He is a Professional Geologist with over 35 years’ experience in base and precious metal exploration in the U.S., Central America, South America, and Australia. Richard has had field, executive, and management level positions in companies such as North Mining, Homestake Mining Company, and Superior Oil. He has been involved in major mineral discoveries in the Western United States and Australia.
He has a Master’s of Science Degree in Geology from Idaho State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Montana State University. His exploration methods involve results-driven mixing of practical field geology, geochemistry and drilling with state of the art GIS, geochemical and geophysical methods. His strong analytical skills and hands-on field oriented mentor management style has proven to be a successful combination in developing various mining ventures.
Richard S. Kern B.Sc.; Vice President
Prior to earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from University of Nevada, Reno, Richard S. Kern spent his free time interning and consulting for MinQuest Inc. Even before obtaining his degree, he had over 5 years of work experience in exploration. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he took on more exploration jobs as a consultant. He now has experience in the business and office side of exploration, including GIS work and resource modeling, as well as mapping, logging, and exploration above ground and under. While his career started with years of hard rock precious and industrial mineral deposits, most current work has been in lithium brine and sediment deposits. This work has included research, creation of new deposit models, application of various geophysical techniques, sampling, logging, and creation of new potential Li calculations for western US basins. His knowledge from recent graduation at UNR paired with years of training from his father and other exploration focused geologists have given him fresh insight paired with past experience.
